There’s been a few from this era, that just before money started really pouring into the game and wages took off, who have hit the skids, booze, gambling, minor villains etc
Would imagine some have problems coming to terms with not being the centre of attention after they hang up there boots, then to top it off they see the money in the game these days, Dixon at the height of his career was earning in a year what the current strikers at Chelsea’s pick up in a day or 2.
Not saying that’s an excuse, but I bet it makes more than a few a bit bitter, to see what could have been had they been playing just a few years later and maybe contributes to them going off the rails.
